West-northwesterly surface and transport winds will prevail at the burn site today, with breezy transport speeds combining with elevated mixing heights to create good daytime dispersion values. Dry weather is expected through at least early afternoon, followed by scattered thunderstorms developing north of the burn site during the mid-afternoon hours that may sweep southward by the late afternoon and early evening. Strong to isolated severe storms will be possible, with stronger storms being capable of producing strong wind gusts, frequent lightning strikes, and briefly heavy downpours. Oppressive heat and humidity will otherwise continue, with peak heat index values around 110 degrees this afternoon and again on Thursday afternoon. A similar weather pattern is forecast on Thursday, with chances for afternoon and evening thunderstorms impacting the burn site. Westerly surface and transport winds will prevail, with elevated mixing heights again yielding good daytime dispersion values during the afternoon hours. .REST OF TODAY...
