...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR NORTHWESTERN PIKE COUNTY...

At 705 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that earlier thunderstorms
produced heavy rain in Meta. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have
fallen, and a rain gauge measured 1.78 inches of rain in one hour in
Meta. While it may not be raining at the moment, additional rainfall
is likely later this evening. Flash flooding is likely ongoing, and
this additional rainfall may allow it to continue.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
