...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following
  counties, Bell and Harlan.

* WHEN...Until 800 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 422 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Harlan, Wallins Creek, Kentenia, Liggett, Hensley Store,
    Pathfork, Martins Fork, Mary Alice, White Star, Peepace
    Store, Teetersville, Tremont, Elcomb, Grays Knob, Tway,
    Sunshine, Black Snake, Chevrolet, Martins Fork Lake and
    Blackmont.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
