Delayed report. Wolfe County Search & Rescue
Team conducted a swift water rescue at
9:15PM on 8/13/26 at the intersection of
KY-11 and Torrent Falls. The Middle Fork of
the Red River had overtaken the driveway to
Torrent Falls with rushing water, and the
current was strong enough to sweep a vehicle
downstream and roll it over several times.
The vehicle occupants escaped to the roof at
first, but one was pulled underwater a few
times before escaping up a riverbank. The
            current reportedly ripped off this
individuals shoes. The other occupant made
it to the opposite riverbank, where they
became stranded. Pictures show a black sport
            utility vehicle mostly submerged and
surrounded by tree debris. Thankfully, the
individuals were rescued and there were no
reported injuries or fatalities from this
            incident.
