Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Key West FL
1026 PM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

...New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION...

.KEY MESSAGES...

-Chances for rainfall remain elevated, between 60% and 70%, over
the next few days as an unsettled pattern remains in place.

-A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for all Florida Keys.
The combination of the current King Tide cycle and persistent
bouts of rainfall will support additional flooding over roadways
and low lying lots. Coastal flooding will likely continue into
 the weekend.

-Drier air will filter in over the weekend, and offer the first
taste of the Fall season for the Florida Keys.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

A strong surface high is spreading southward across the eastern
United States. This along with weak troughing near and south of
the Keys, along with considerable moisture is contributing to
scattered to numerous showers across the forecast area this
evening. With that said, thunderstorm activity has been rather
rare. Winds have come up a slightly due to a moderately tighter
pressure gradient between the previously mentioned features.

Expect continued high rain chances through the overnight due to
the presence of the trough and high moisture values. At least
likely rain chances remain justified. Away from convection, expect
gentle to moderate northeast to easterly breezes. Overnight lows
will be in the upper 70s with dew points in the mid 70s.

The combination of periodic doses of rain in concert with King
tide will continue to be problematic for areas prone to flooding.
A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for all Florida Keys.
Motorists should assume that any standing water is at least
brackish and likely ocean water.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

The combination of a strong high pressure system spreading down
the eastern United States and weak troughing over and south of our
area will maintain gentle to moderate breezes across Keys waters
overnight. Winds will tend stronger to the north and weaker to the
south. This pattern, along with copious moisture, will continue to
support scattered to numerous shower activity and a rare
thunderstorm.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 1030 PM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

A wet weather pattern will persist across the area overnight. As a
result, expect short spells of sub VFR conditions. Away from
showers, surface winds will be gentle to moderate out of the
northeast to east.
