Issued at 1042 PM EDT Fri Aug 22 2025 An active afternoon and evening across the Florida Keys and surrounding coastal waters, especially the Upper Keys. Convection across the the southern Mainland initially was moving eastward out towards Biscayne Bay. This cluster collided with a fast moving outflow boundary that was moving south along the southeast Florida coastline. What resulted was a large storm with excessive lightning, very heavy rains, and gusty winds. The strongest winds we saw this evening were reported at Carysfort Reef Light (40 knots or 46 mph) as portion of said large thunderstorm rolled over. Thankfully most of the potential flooding rains stay either out over the Everglades or over open water. Communities between Ocean Reef and Key Largo did however still manage to pick up a quick inch. Within the last hour if you were look at the radar now, you`d see a totally different story. The radar has rapidly quieted down with no notable convection anywhere in our CWA. Meanwhile, ridge moving back in and settling nearly overhead of the Keys has led to winds going light and variable. Outside of the Upper Keys, where it rained enough to cool them down, temperatures are still in the mid to upper 80s this hour. && .MARINE... Issued at 1042 PM EDT Fri Aug 22 2025 Hurricane Erin continues to race off into the North Atlantic south and east of the Canadian Maritimes. A weak subtropical high pressure ridge will continue to build into the Keys before settling over the Keys over the weekend continuing into early next week. This will result in generally light breezes, occasionally becoming light to gentle breezes as well as becoming variable at times. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 1042 PM EDT Fri Aug 22 2025 VFR conditions expected for the overnight with light and variable winds. These winds will likely continue into the daytime on Saturday, leading to conditions conducive for cloud lines once again. Will leave any mentions of VCSH or VCTS to future amendments as the cloud lines develop. && .KEY WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... FL...None.
