375 FZUS52 KKEY 271414 CWFKEY Coastal Waters Forecast for the Florida Keys National Weather Service Key West FL 1014 AM EDT Tue Oct 27 2026 Florida Bay, Hawk Channel and Straits of Florida from Ocean Reef to south of Dry Tortugas, and the extreme southeastern Gulf of America, including The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Seas are given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. The Wave Detail section highlights the period and direction of origin for the highest-energy waves, as well as any long-period swells moving in a different direction than the wind. Sprawling high pressure over the eastern United States will be reinforced by a secondary high north of the Great Lakes region. As these features interact with a persistent low south of the Bahamas, this will support frequent near gale gusts in eastern Hawk Channel and the Straits of Florida. Pulses of low level moisture from the low will also produce elevated shower chances, mainly in the eastern marine zones. The secondary high will slide into the central North Atlantic for the middle to latter part of the work week, supporting slackening northeast to east breezes.
