Through 5:00 pm, scattered showers and embedded thunderstorms across the eastern Straits of Florida, the SE Gulf waters, mainly to the north and northeast of the Dry Tortugas, Florida Bay will continue to slowly drift to the east to southeast over the next hour. The activity over Florida Bay will move into the Upper Keys, especially from Tavernier northeast to Ocean Reef, over the next hour or two. Mariners encountering this activity can expect reduced visibility in moderate to heavy downpours, wind gusts of near 25 knots, and occasional lightning strikes. On land, rainfall amounts in the Upper Keys from Tavernier to Ocean Reef may vary from a half to one inch with locally in excess of 2 inches possible if this activity can hold together. $$ MJV
