Through 8:00 pm, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the far eastern and far western Straits of Florida will continue to slowly meander. In addition, widespread stratiform rain has broken out across the SE Gulf waters and the nearshore waters surrounding the Lower Keys. Mariners encountering the stronger activity across the Straits can expect reduced visibility in moderate to heavy downpours, wind gusts of 25 to 30 knots, and frequent lightning strikes. Some island communities of the Lower Keys may receive additional rainfall amounts of a few hundredths to a few tenths of an inch. $$ MJV
