Through 400 pm, a broken band of isolated showers associated with an island cloud line will grow in intensity across portions of the Bayside and Gulfside waters north of the Lower and Middle Keys. These showers will drift to the northeast at 5 to 10 knots. Mariners encountering this activity, mainly north along a line from Big Pine Key to Marathon, can expect brief heavy downpours reducing visibility and wind gusts near 20 knots. Conditions will also be generally favorable for waterspout formation. Waterspouts will be most likely to form from showers and thunderstorms that are nearly stationary. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Mariners are encouraged to seek safe harbor immediately if a waterspout is spotted. $$
