.SHORT TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 333 PM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025

Surface high pressure will shift east of the area tonight. Return
southerly low-level flow and weak WAA should keep any frost at bay,
with lows generally staying at 40F or above. In addition, moisture
begins to return across western Kansas, and enters southwest
Nebraska by around sunrise Wednesday morning. Expect a deck of
clouds to overspread the area with the return in moisture. These
clouds will linger much of the day across southwest into central
Nebraska as H85 humidity/dew points increase through the day.
Temperatures will struggle beneath the cloud cover, with highs only
near 60 or in the lower 60s across portions of Lincoln and Custer
counties. Less cloud coverage is expected for areas north and west,
with highs nearing the upper 60s to around 70 where more sunshine
is expected.

A weak surface trough will make it`s way eastward across the area
Wednesday. Relative humidity values do fall into the 20-25% range
Thursday across western Nebraska behind the trough, but winds appear
that they will remain in check keeping any fire weather concerns
low. Otherwise much warmer air will mix eastward across the area,
with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Issued at 333 PM CDT Tue Oct 7 2025

Ridging aloft will amplify Thursday into Friday as a deep upper
trough starts to dig southward along the west coast. By Saturday,
the ridge will shift eastward and begins to breakdown as, the west
coast upper trough begins to eject northeastward toward the northern
Rockies Saturday and into Canada by Sunday. Strong, gusty southerly
winds develop Sunday as the ridge breaks down. Very high moisture
content is expected in the mid and upper levels from the remnants of
hurricane Priscilla (currently southwest of Baja) during this time.
It appears that some of this moisture will actually mix all the way
to the surface, keeping relative humidity values above 40% for the
most part. This should continue to help alleviate the fire weather
concerns. A cold front crosses the area Sunday, but with the better
upper level forcing remaining will to our north, only slight chances
for any precipitation will come with it.
