441 FXUS63 KLBF 252220 AFDLBF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service North Platte NE 420 PM CST Tue Nov 25 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Chance of precipitation Wednesday afternoon - Potential for first accumulating snowfall on Friday night into Saturday - Much cooler temperatures Saturday and Sunday && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Issued at 418 PM CST Tue Nov 25 2025 Strong northwest winds behind the cold front will diminish this evening by sunset and will see winds become light overnight around 5 mph. Focus then turns on the chance of precipitation tomorrow afternoon, generally expected across western and southwest Nebraska, including the southern Sandhills. Confidence is low, however there may be enough of a band where mid-level frontogentic lift and some low to mid-level moisture overlap during the afternoon where some light precipitation may be possible. Generally kept PoPs under 30 percent as confidence is on the lower end. Precip may be a rain/snow mix south of interstate 80 and west of HWY 83, but then expect anything east of HWY 83 and north of interstate 80 to be snow showers. Trace amounts or less of accumulation expected. && .LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 418 PM CST Tue Nov 25 2025 Thanksgiving day itself looks to be mostly dry, however there are hints there could potentially be some light snow showers but at this time confidence is a little too low to have the mention in the forecast yet, as moisture confidence is lacking, frontogentic lift is possible, will continue to monitor. If snow showers were to occur, it will likely be isolated in more of a "snow band" and nothing widespread is expected. Focus on the long term is generally on the Friday evening into Saturday snowfall potential as this systems is more synoptically driven and would expect more widespread potential for the forecast area. Uncertainties still remain as focus will generally be where the low tracks and timing. At this time confidence still remains low to medium, in how much of the area will receive snowfall, thus confidence is low, but confidence in impacts it medium as even a light snow accumulations will be impactful to holiday travel and winds be breezy, although nowhere near as strong as today`s winds, but around 15 to 20 mph that with any snow that falls will likely impact visibilities somewhat. Probabilistic models still continue to signal a good potential of at least half inch snowfall or more. Will continue to monitor as the system continues to evolve. Temperatures will also be a concern with a reinforcing shot of colder air. Lows on Saturday and Sunday will be in the single digits to low double digits and some locations across north central Nebraska will have wind chills below zero. && .AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 1136 AM CST Tue Nov 25 2025 VFR conditions will prevail over the next 24 hours. Winds will remain strong through early evening out of the northwest around 30 to 40 kts with gust of 50 kts or more at times. Winds will diminish this evening but will still remain breezy before midnight around 10 to 15 kts with gust up to 25 kts, before switching to the west Wednesday morning around 5 kts. && .LBF WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... High Wind Warning until 6 PM CST /5 PM MST/ this evening for NEZ004>010-022>029-035>038-056>059-069>071-094. && $$ SHORT TERM...Gomez LONG TERM...Gomez AVIATION...Gomez
