...The National Weather Service in North Platte has issued a Flood
Advisory for the following rivers in Nebraska...
North Platte River at Lewellen affecting Keith and Garden
Counties.
.Recent subfreezing temperatures have led to ice jamming along the
North Platte River near Lewellen. The threat for minor flooding will
continue into the weekend as temperatures fluctuate above and below
the freezing mark. Minor flooding is possible, mainly upstream of
the Highway 26 bridge, crossing the North Platte River southeast of
Lewellen.
For the North Platte River...including Lewellen...elevated river
levels are forecast.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

...FLOOD ADVISORY FOR AN ICE JAM IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON TO
SATURDAY AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Minor flooding caused by an ice jam is expected.
* WHERE...North Platte River at Lewellen.
* WHEN...From this afternoon to Saturday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet, Minor flood stage. Overflow and high water
table levels may cause seepage and flooding of basements and crawl
spaces near and along the river.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:45 AM MST Wednesday the stage was 8.1 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 7.5 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 11:45 AM MST Wednesday was 8.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to remain steady above flood
stage at around 8.2 feet. Minor fluctuations are possible as
the river thaws and refreezes.
- Action stage is 7.0 feet.
- Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
