Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
231 AM CDT Mon Jun 16 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns remain limited through the middle of the
week with increasing concern towards Friday and Saturday.

Above normal temperatures are likely today as a surface boundary
stalls across western Nebraska. This boundary will serve as the
focus for rain and thunderstorms during the afternoon with
additional rain and thunderstorms arriving late tonight. Though
temperatures remain warm, increased surface moisture will limit
afternoon humidity values falling beyond 35 percent. Precipitation
late Monday through late Tuesday will likely lead to widespread
wetting rains and localized amounts approaching 1.50-2.00".

By Thursday, upper-level ridging builds in and daytime highs will
return to well above normal values. Forecast highs for Friday and
Saturday will range from 95 to 105. This heat will yield afternoon
humidity minimums nearing 15 percent for our southwest zones but
concern is limited due to fuel receptiveness and lack of more
significant winds.
