771 FNUS53 KLBF 011922 FWFLBF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and North Central for Nebraska National Weather Service North Platte NE 222 PM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 .DISCUSSION... A few days bear watching for fire weather concerns this upcoming week. Temperatures will largely favor near to below normal values which will help keep humidity levels safely above critical levels. The exceptions to this will be Tuesday and Thursday, where daytime highs will climb into the middle 80s for the western Sandhills. Combining the warmer temperatures and drier air working in, afternoon humidity levels will fall into the upper teens and lower 20s for portions of Zone 204 Tuesday and Thursday respectively. These same areas were generally missed with recent rainfall so believe fuels will generally be mixed per recent updates for in- field experts. Winds should top around 20 mph out of the north Tuesday but increase Thursday behind a cool front with gusts nearing 30 mph in spots. Though mild temperatures look to follow Thursday through the immediate weekend, concerns will decrease as winds become more marginal at less than 20 mph. Extended outlooks suggest dry conditions will favor the middle of the week with more active weather potentially returning by early next week.
