Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
317 AM CDT Wed Sep 3 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A strong cool front will move through the fire districts today.
A chance for showers and a few thunderstorms this morning through
mid afternoon across the eastern half of north central Nebraska.
Highs limited to the mid 60s northeast, while southwest Nebraska
reaches the upper 70s to lower 80s.

On Thursday, westerly winds become northwest, with gusts up to
30 mph across the western Sandhills and north central. Drier air
will push into the west, with afternoon humidity as low as 20 percent.
Fuels are not yet expected to be very receptive over the western
Sandhills, though wind gusts to 30 mph and low humidity will
lead to elevated fire conditions.

Another strong cool front Thursday night, will bring much cooler highs
in the 60s to the area for Friday. A gradual warmup into the 70s to
near 80 by Sunday.
