.DISCUSSION...
Near-critical to critical fire weather conditions will continue
through late Sunday afternoon. Winds remain gusty out of the
northwest as afternoon temperatures hold into the upper 70s. A
frontal boundary will arrive from the north and bring a slight
uptick in low-level moisture in its wake. This should temper fire
weather concerns quicker this evening with modest humidity
recovery expected for the overnight.
For Monday, surface high pressure will settle southeast and
southerly winds will quickly strengthen on the backside of the
departing feature. This supports 30 to 35 mph gusts west of
Highway 83. Though afternoon highs will be much cooler, humidity
minimums will likely fall to around 25 percent or lower. Will
message this as elevated to near-critical once again. How much high
level clouds inhibit warmup during the day will need to be
investigated.
Above normal temperatures and recurring breezy conditions will
support increased fire weather concerns much of the upcoming week
beyond Monday. At this time, Tuesday appears to be of greatest
concern with a similar setup as what was seen Sunday. That said,
timing of the frontal boundary favors overnight and thus winds are
weaker during the peak of the daytime. Mild and dry conditions
Thursday and Friday will support at least elevated concerns,
largely wind driven, as temperatures once again look to exceed 10F
above normal.
