Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
232 PM CDT Mon Sep 23 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Passage of a weak cold front may bring isolated to widely scattered
showers to central and western Nebraska tonight, though the potential
for wetting rainfall is quite low.

The overall weather pattern looks to bring warm and dry conditions
with a bit of a breeze to central and western Nebraska for the
next several days. While humidity is generally expected to remain
above critical levels, minimum humidity will drop below 30
percent each day from the sandhills into the panhandle with the
expectation for elevated fire weather conditions for much of the
area.

Tuesday and particularly Thursday look to offer the most
potential for gusty conditions. Probabilistic guidance shows
better than a 50 percent chance for gusts of 20 to 25mph tomorrow
afternoon across much of the region. On Thursday probabilistic
guidance shows better than a 50 percent chance for gusts up to
30mph north of Hwy 2 and mainly up around the Hwy 20 corridor.
While there is some uncertainty as to where the greatest overlap
of lowest humidity of 20 percent or lower and strongest gusts
will occur, fire zones 208 and northern portions of zones 204 and
206 will be monitored closely.
