Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
209 AM CDT Thu Sep 4 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Near surface smoke from wildfires across western Canada and the
western U.S. will remain across western Nebraska this morning,
with a second round is expected across western Nebraska this
afternoon.

Elevated fire weather conditions across the western Sandhills,
mainly Zones 204 and 210. The fire weather concerns are driven
by northwesterly winds gusting to 35 mph in the afternoon to
early evening. Temperatures climb into the 80s across the region,
with a cold front bringing the stronger winds in the
afternoon. Little to no precipitation is expected with this front,
but there is high confidence in the gusty winds. Humidity remains
somewhat marginal, with values falling the 20 to 25 percent across
the west.

Friday through Sunday, fire weather conditions will be low. A
cool, dry pattern develops this weekend, with below normal
temperatures.A return to near to above normal temperatures next
week, with little to no precipitation expected. Humidity values
may approach the 20 to 30 percent range in the west, however,
winds are expected to remain under 20 mph.
