526 FNUS53 KLBF 252057 FWFLBF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and North Central for Nebraska National Weather Service North Platte NE 357 PM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 .DISCUSSION... Elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions are expected to develop across much of western Nebraska on Thursday. Confidence is also high that very little to no measurable rainfall will occur anywhere in the forecast area over the next seven days. Strong southerly winds will develop ahead of an approaching surface trough from the west. Gusts in the morning may climb to around 35 mph for portions of the Sandhills, but likely fall to around 20 to 25 mph during the afternoon. Anomalous temperatures near the trough will climb into the middle 90s with middle 80s to low 90s elsewhere. This will push afternoon humidity minimums into the 10 to 20 percent range for northern Zone 204 and western Zone 208 but remain near or above 20 percent elsewhere. The limited overlap of low humidity and strong winds due to the encroaching surface trough preclude fire weather headlines at this time. Fire weather concerns remain elevated to near-critical through early next week as upper-level ridging and anomalous temperatures remain the norm. A strong cool front will dive south on Monday and while temperatures will fall in its wake, dry air will again support low humidity with strong post-frontal winds out of the north. Temperatures moderate around the middle of next week with a return to above normal values. NEZ204-261115- Eastern Panhandle/Crescent Lake NWR- 257 PM MDT Wed Sep 25 2024 .TONIGHT...
