.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns remain low over the next few days as
temperatures fall to seasonable levels for much of western
Nebraska. Though humidity minimums may fall into the 20 to 25
percent range each afternoon Tuesday and Wednesday near the Pine
Ridge, winds of 20 mph or less will limit overall concerns each
day.

Concern increases for Thursday and Friday as flow increases across
the Rockies bringing the threat of near-critical to critical
conditions. The westerly downsloping winds will help bolster
temperatures to above normal values within a dry airmass.
Probabilistic data shows 60 percent joint potential for seeing
winds sustained at 15 knots or stronger along with humidity of 20
percent or less for many locations west of Highway 83. Where a
surface trough sets up will be the dividing line of greater
concern to west and lower concerns to the east. For now, believe
the greatest threat is generally west of Highway 61. This will
need monitored in the coming days given recent fuel intel
suggesting 1000 hour fuels would carry fire while grasses have
mixed susceptibility.

Concerns decrease into the weekend where a more unsettled pattern
arrives. This should allow a break from the unseasonable warmth
and increasing precipitation potential. While details are far from
certain, an influx of greater monsoonal moisture should allow for
humidity levels to remain well above critical levels.
