.KEY MESSAGES...

- Dangerous heat is expected this week with temperatures in the
  upper 90s to 100s and heat indices of 106-111F.

- A Heat Advisory is in effect for all areas Today from 10 AM to 8
  PM.

- Later in the week, upper ridging loosens its grip on the
  forecast, allowing some rain chances and moderating temperatures
  to return.

Persistence forecast for the bulk of the short term period under
the standing high pressure ridge aloft. Anticipating very similar
conditions Tuesday and likely on Wednesday for this reason. Temps
in the mid to upper 90s with dewpoints in the 70s resulting in
heat indices in the 105 to 111F range. This warrants a heat
advisory on Tuesday and Wednesday will likely need one as well.

Big signal coming down the pike for a pattern shift starting
late Wednesday into Thursday. Upper troughiness spinning down out
of the upper Midwest erodes upper high pressure, backing it into
central Texas. This release of upper the upper ridge allows
moisture to surge back in (PWATs from 1.50 increasing to 1.95
inches) by Thursday AM. This means a return of cloud cover and
possibly some lower-end rain chances by afternoon. The moisture
and clouds will help to break the heat somewhat, and highs in the
mid 90s will be the expectation through the early weekend. Rain
chances likely won`t make a great return to central and southwest
LA and southeast TX until Friday, depending on how long it takes
the ridge to move out, but the cloud cover and break in the heat
will be well-received, even still.

Once again not anticipating any aviation issues. Very little in
the way of cloud cover with VFR conditions expected through the
day. Winds will be light from the west to southwest.

Low seas and moderate onshore winds will prevail to the end of the
work week as high pressure largely remains in charge. High
pressure will begin backing into central Texas late Thursday into
Friday, igniting a pressure gradient and increasing easterly
winds. This may result in a period of Small Craft Advisory
conditions and very likely will signal the return of some rain
chances over coastal waters.

The nearterm will see a prevailing forecast through the middle of
the work week. High pressure situated overtop the area will keep
conditions dry with little to no rain chances. The only exception
being lower Acadiana where a few weak showers may move overhead in
the afternoon. Expect the same on Wednesday under the same
pattern.
Upper levels begin shifting into Thursday which should allow for
some moisture and low end rain chances to return to the area.
