.KEY MESSAGES...

- A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 AM until 8 PM Sunday. Highs
  in the mid 90s to 100F and humidity will result in heat indices
  in the 105 to 111F range.

- An upper level ridge will remain in place across the northern
  gulf coast through the middle of next week keeping afternoon
  highs above normal.

- No appreciable precipitation chances exist through the next seven
  days.

High pressure at the surface and aloft continues to dominate the
Deep South this evening and will remain in place for the next
several days. The surface ridge was centered over SW LA this past
mid afternoon with light winds swirling clockwise roughly around
Lake Charles. Very little cloud cover was noted, but there were a
few showers in the CWA. Max apparent temps topped out in the 105
to 110 range.

Sunday is not expected to change much with the surface ridge
remaining over south LA and the pressure cooker of ridge aloft
remaining stationary. Highs will remain above normal with max
apparent heat index values climbing into the 105 to 111 range. Not
every location in the advisory will hit the criteria of 108F,
however many locations will. There may be a few thunderstorms in
lower Acadiana, but no appreciable rain is anticipated.

Rinse and repeat for Monday and Tuesday.

The ridge aloft begins to weaken some by mid week which could
lower high temperatures a few degrees back to normal values...
just the typical August hot temperatures of low 90s for highs. As
the ridge aloft weakens, scattered thunderstorms may return by
next weekend.

While isolated afternoon showers and storms may be possible in
Acadiana Sunday and Monday, the region will remain very dry. With
rain not anticipated, and temperatures remaining well above normal
