CHARLES AND CENTRAL ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISHES... At 522 PM CDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Saint Rose. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... New Orleans, Hahnville, Metairie, Laplace, Avondale, Reserve, Jefferson, Harahan, Westwego, Destrehan, St. Rose, New Sarpy, Ama, Norco, Luling, Taft, Waggaman, Boutte, River Ridge and Montz. This includes the following Interstates... Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 208 and 211...and between mile markers 215 and 230. Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 2. Interstate 310 between mile markers 1 and 9. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
