...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Louisiana, including the following
  parishes, Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana,
  Iberville, Lafourche, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Charles, St.
  Helena, St. James, St. John The Baptist, Terrebonne, West Baton
  Rouge and West Feliciana.

* WHEN...Until 800 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 455 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
    have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Baton Rouge, Houma, Zachary, Thibodaux, Baker, Denham
    Springs, Gonzales, Donaldsonville, Plaquemine, Port Allen,
    New Roads, Jackson, St. Francisville, Clinton, Napoleonville,
    Oak Hills Place, Reserve, Laplace, St. Gabriel and Walker.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
