Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
537 AM CDT Tue Aug 18 2026

.DISCUSSION...

As high pressure dominates the region though much of this week.
We will see temperatures above average with generally daytime
highs from 90-100 and overnight lows in the upper 70s, and rain
will be very difficult to come by for many areas. Winds will be
calm to light and variable overnight and 5-10 mph out of the
southwest to southeast during the day. Lowest daily RH values
will remain in the mid 40 to 60% range through the week. The
upper ridge aloft may begin to weaken late week into the weekend
which would allow for greater convective coverage and more near
normal temps.
