Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
122 AM CDT Fri Sep 4 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Coverage of showers and thunderstorms will be much more
widespread today than the last few days. Rain totals will be
highly dependent on where the heavier thunderstorms move as a few
storms will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall,
especially in areas near the coast. Rainfall totals over the next
several days could exceed 1-2 inches. Afternoon minimum
humidities will be well above critical levels all weekend, not
dropping much below 60 percent, even in the driest areas.
