Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
538 PM CDT Sat Aug 8 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A very typical pattern for early August will be in place through
the end of next week. This pattern will see scattered showers and
thunderstorms develop along the coast each morning and then
spread inland through the late morning and afternoon hours before
dissipating in the early evening hours. Winds along the coast
will be dominated by the seabreeze cycle with light winds in the
morning turning more southerly and increasing to around 10 mph in
the afternoon hours. Away from the coast, lighter southerly winds
of around 5 mph can be expected each day through early next week.
Winds will turn more southwesterly by the middle of next week.
Humidity levels will remain well above any critical thresholds
and fog chances will remain low through the period.
