Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
521 PM CDT Fri Oct 17 2025

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure has moved east of the area with relative humidities
moderating. Minimum RH values will be between 45 and 55 percent
for much of the area today, and likely to be above 60 percent for
most of the area Saturday. A cold front is expected to move
through the area late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Showers
and thunderstorms are expected to accompany the front, but areal
average rainfall amounts are expected to remain well below one
inch across most or all of the area. Drier weather is again
expected behind this frontal passage, with minimum RH values
falling below 40 percent, and possibly approaching critical
levels near and north of the Interstate 10/12 corridor Monday
afternoon.
