Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
122 AM CDT Thu Oct 1 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A much more humid and rainier weather pattern will affect the
area through the weekend as a front stalls over the region. Rain
chances will be highest on Saturday and Sunday when periods of
showers and thunderstorms will pass over the region. Minimum RH
values will remain well above any critical thresholds due to this
rainier period of weather moving in. Fog will also not be a
concern through the weekend as southeast winds of 5 to 10 mph
persist. As we move into early next week, the front should move
offshore with rain chances confined to the coast. Minimum RH
values will fall slightly, but will still be well above any
critical thresholds. Winds will shift to the northeast and
increase to around 10 mph as we start the week.
