Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
1226 AM CDT Sat Oct 4 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Low pressure offshore will combine with high pressure to the
north of the area to produce a persistent east to northeast wind
through the weekend. Winds will generally range between 10 and
20 mph with occasional gusts to 25 mph each day, especially near
the coast. South of Interstate 10, minimum RH values are expected
to be above 65 percent, with fuels becoming wet, especially on
Sunday. North of Interstate 10, drier air will remain in place
today, with minimum humidities as low as 40 to 50 percent. On
Sunday, rain will overspread the rest of the area. A return to a
drier and warmer regime will occur next week as high pressure
becomes more dominant over the region. Winds will also decrease
back to 5 to 10 mph as the high builds in.
