Fire Weather Planning Forecast for S MS and SE LA
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
808 PM CDT Wed Jul 29 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Hot and mostly dry conditions will continue today beneath strong
upper-level ridging, with minimum relative humidity values
generally in the mid 40s to mid 50s inland and west to northwest
winds around 5 to 10 mph. Afternoon mixing will support fair to
good dispersion, followed by poor overnight dispersion and strong
humidity recovery. A weak front will approach Thursday and bring
increasing thunderstorm coverage through the weekend, with most
locations receiving wetting rainfall. Lightning, strong and
erratic outflow winds, and rapid wind shifts will be the primary
concerns near storms, while critical fire-weather conditions are
not anticipated.
