.DISCUSSION...

Dry conditions are going to persist into the weekend and looking
at yesterday, we mixed very efficiently in a few locations which
led to the RH dropping down to near 20% which was a little lower
than forecast and we had already dropped the RH forecast lower.
Expect much the same today and tomorrow with the min RH values
dropping from near 20 to near 30 across all areas north of I-10.
Temps may be a touch warmer today but tomorrow as a weak backdoor
cold front moves into the area temps may drop a few degrees with
highs ranging from the upper 70s to lower 80s but it will also
usher in even drier air. As we have been mentioning the one
positive aspect is the light winds which will continue today but
tomorrow winds will pick up some, luckily the strongest winds
will be along the coast and in the area with the highest RH
values. Even with the light winds given the worsening drought
conditions, abundant fuels, and rather efficient drying during
the afternoon wild fire spread potential will still be high. A
Fire Danger Statement (SPS) remains out and there will be a
deeper look today to see if a Fire Weather Watch will be needed
for a few locations.
