.DISCUSSION...
A period of active weather with scattered to numerous showers and
storms is expected tonight through Tuesday as a cold front
approaches and moves through the area. Rain amounts will
generally be light with most places receiving one quarter inch or
less. The highest totals are currently forecast across
southwestern MS where around one half inch of rain is forecast.
Behind the cold front, much cooler and drier air will move into
the area for the second half of the week. Afternoon RH values are
currently forecast to drop to near or below 30% both Thursday and
Friday afternoons, but should rise fairly quickly once winds turn
southeastward again on Saturday.
.REMARKS...
1. Light showers currently moving north to northeast across Lake
Pontchartrain right now may pass directly over or very close to
the SPOT lat/lon. If it doesn`t rain by 7pm, next chance looks
to be several hours from now during the early morning hours of
Tuesday.
2. Around a 30% probability of light fog close to sunrise Tuesday.
3. On land its fairly weak but in the Lake its 15-20 mph. Since
the winds right now east to ESE, they`re parallel to the coast.
As the evening progresses, between now and midnight, you should
see wind becoming southeast and then south. With the wildfire site
so close to the Lake, I think you`ll start to see at least some
of those stronger winds. Hard to say if it`ll be 50% of what it is
at Mid Lake or 80%, but regardless it`ll be noticeable there. By
sunrise Tues, winds should be southwest to SSW, possibly
beginning to relax.
