The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a
* Special Marine Warning for...
Terrebonne Bay...
Coastal Waters from Port Fourchon LA to Lower Atchafalaya River LA
out 20 nm...
* Until 215 PM CDT.
* At 1244 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing
waterspouts were located along a line from 9 NM west of Golden
Meadow to 6 NM southeast of Point Au Fer Island, or along a line
from 10 NM north of Timbalier Bay to 6 NM southeast of Point Au Fer
Island, moving southeast at 5 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 34 knots.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly
higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
* Locations impacted include...
Isle Derniers, Terrebonne Bay, Caillou Bay, Timbalier Island and
Timbalier Bay.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.
Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
