...AN AREA OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN ST. JOHN
THE BAPTIST PARISH UNTIL 2 PM CDT...

At 112 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of strong
thunderstorms capable of producing funnel clouds over Paradis, or 7
miles southwest of Hahnville, moving northeast at 5 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and funnel clouds.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
  Hahnville, Laplace, Paradis, Boutte, Bayou Gauche, Des Allemands,
  Taft, Luling, Killona, Destrehan, Norco, Montz and Edgard.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Conditions are favorable for the development of weak, brief funnel
clouds. This type of funnel cloud is harmless, but on rare occasions
they can briefly touch down, producing wind gusts over 50 mph. If a
funnel cloud is spotted move indoors or to safe harbor and report
your sighting to the National Weather Service.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
