.DISCUSSION...
(This evening through next Sunday)

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Mostly clear early this morning with
patchy freezing fog in some valley locations. Early morning
temperatures today will be in the teens for many locations, with
colder locales that could see single digits.

An upper level ridge will be off the west coast of California this
afternoon with a continued northerly flow. Afternoon high
temperatures will be on the chilly side with readings in the 30s
and 40s. Winds will be on the light side. Another weather
system, this one currently over the Gulf of Alaska, will be diving
southward across the Great Basin Monday night and Tuesday. Clouds
will be on the increase after midnight with light snow showers
developing by early Tuesday morning. This system is expected to
affect the forecast area Tuesday and Wednesday. Snow amounts are
mainly confined to the eastern half of the area, though model
solutions are trying to depict a track that could position the
system slightly to the west, which will affect a higher portion of
the state. Highs on Tuesday will be in the 40s and 50s with
breezy west to northwest winds gusts to 25 mph. The system will
slowly progress southward across the eastern Great Basin Wednesday
morning with lows in the teens and 20s.

Look for a continuation of the light snow showers on Wednesday.
Storm total snow accumulations are expected to be highest across
northern Elko county with one to four inches, while other areas
could see an inch or less. Highs Wednesday will be on the chilly
side as the flow remains out of a northerly direction with
readings in the 30s and 40s. Surface winds will be out of the
north with gusts to 25 mph. Overnight lows will be in the teens.

Model solutions continue to show the upper level ridging off the
west coast of the United States with Pacific energy riding over
the ridge. This pattern will bring light rain/snow showers to
northern Nevada with temperatures moderating in the 40s from
Thursday through Sunday.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence remains high on the
system exiting and leaving much cooler temperatures through the
week. Confidence remains moderate on the next system for Tuesday-
Wednesday.

.AVIATION...

Recent moisture in combination with clearing skies and cold
temperatures early this morning are expected to aide in the
development of freezing fog in some valleys across Northeastern
Nevada. At this time fog is not in any of the TAF forecasts,
however there is a 15-20% chance of fog at KEKO and KBAM this
morning. The chance for fog at KWMC KENV KELY and KTPH is less
than 5% this morning. Otherwise VFR conditions today. Snow showers
return to portions of Northeastern Nevada on Tuesday. AMD NOT
SKED continues for KTPH due to comms issues.
