.DISCUSSION...
(Today through next Friday)
Issued at 1243 AM PDT Sat Jun 14 2025

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

An area of high pressure will be centered over the Desert
Southwest this weekend. High temperatures throughout Northern and
Central Nevada both this afternoon and Sunday afternoon will be
six to eight degrees above normal for this time of year. Here are
probabilities of maximum temperatures of 90 degrees or higher for
select locations in Northern and Central Nevada on Sunday, June
15th, 2025:

West Wendover - 100%
Tonopah - 96%
Montello - 95%
Winnemucca - 85%
Eureka - 85%
Lund - 85%
Elko - 80%
Ely - 80%
Battle Mountain - 65%
Carlin - 60%

A trough axis centered along the west coast Monday morning will
advance eastward through the day resulting in increased
southwesterly winds across northern and central NV. Sustained wind
speeds of 15 to 20 mph are expected in most locations with gusts
of 25 to 35 mph through the afternoon and early evening hours.
This will be a fire weather concern as minimum relative humidities
Monday afternoon will be in the 5 to 10 percent range. There will
also be a 5 to 10 percent chance of thunderstorms across eastern
Elko and White Pine Counties Monday afternoon. Mid-level moisture
is low on Monday, so should any storms develop they would like not
produce any rainfall. The trough exits east into Utah Monday night,
with a zonal flow aloft set up across Nevada Tuesday into
Wednesday which will keep the region dry, and also trend
temperatures up slightly.

Wednesday night into Thursday the Great Basin region will be
wedged between a deepening low off the Pacific NW coast and high
pressure over the desert SW. The result of which will be
increasing southwesterly flow over NV that will send afternoon
temperatures up into the upper 80s to low 90s. Thursday is
expected to be the warmest day of the week with highs in the low
to mid 90s, which will be 10 to 15 degrees warmer than normal for
most locations.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Forecast confidence is high regarding dry weather persisting and
temperatures remain above seasonal values. No deviations from the
NBM output.
