Updated at 1031 AM PST Mon Nov 17 2025 * Periods of rain in most of the valleys of Northern and Central Nevada this afternoon through Tuesday night * Light snow on passes and summits along Highway 50 tonight through Tuesday night * Cooling trend Monday through Thursday && .DISCUSSION... (This afternoon through next Monday) WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: An upper-level system over California will move southward today, then eastward across southern Nevada Tuesday. Precipitation is expected with this system however is expected to stay confined over central Nevada. Snow levels will hover between 6000 feet to 7000 feet over the next few days. Light snow is expected over high passes and summits along Highway 50. Another trough of low pressure is expected to make its way towards the western United States Wednesday, making landfall by Wednesday night. The system will weaken while pushing southeastward towards southern California and Arizona. Light precipitaion will again be mainly confined towards southern and central Nevada. Snow levels remain around 6000-7000 feet. A cooling trend since Monday will last through Thursday, making high temperatures on Thursday around five degrees below normal for this time of year. Friday through Monday, upper ridging returns over the Silver State, gradually increasing temperatures. A third low pressure system makes its way toward southwestern United States, however models are showing the system will move further south towards Mexico, bypassing Nevada. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: High confidence for light showers over central Nevada this afternoon through Tuesday. Moderate confidence in light snow on high summits and passes along Highway 50. Moderate confidence on cooling trend through Thursday. && .AVIATION... VFR conditions are expected at all northern terminals today. VFR conditions dominant over KTPH and KELY, however MVFR and lower conditions are possible due to light showers from the ongoing weather system. Winds from the south shifting from the southeast as the system moves eastward tonight, with speeds of 5-11 kts at northern terminals, 10-15 kts gusts 20-25 kts at KTPH and KELY. && .LKN Watches/Warnings/Advisories...
