342 FXUS65 KLKN 082009 AFDLKN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Elko NV 109 PM PDT Tue Sep 8 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... * Warming trend Wednesday and Thursday * Turning cooler Friday through Sunday * Dry conditions for at least the next several days && .DISCUSSION... (This evening through next Monday) WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Calm conditions are expected to continue through the next several days as temperatures warm into the upper 80s and low 90s by Thursday. Winds increase Friday ahead of an upper level low entering the Pacific Northwest, with gusts 20 to 30 mph. Winds are expected to be even stronger for Saturday, with gusts of 40 mph currently forecast. Temperatures will also drop starting Saturday as the low center passes through Oregon and Idaho. Sunday is expected to be the coldest day of the forecast, with highs in the 60s and low 70s and overnight lows approaching freezing especially in Elko County. Temperatures are expected to rebound to seasonal levels to start next week as the low exits to the northeast.
