Updated at 154 AM PST Sat Nov 29 2025 * A storm system will overspread much of Northern and Central Nevada between 10 PM this evening and 4 PM Sunday * Heaviest snowfall tonight into Sunday is expected across Elko County where most valley locations will receive between a trace and one inch of snow, higher amounts across summits * A second storm system is expected Tuesday into Wednesday, with snowfall mainly confined to mountains of Elko County && .UPDATE... Issued at 154 AM PST Sat Nov 29 2025 Current forecast is tracking well; only minor adjustments to snowfall amounts for tonight into Sunday. && .DISCUSSION... (This evening through next Friday) WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: An upper ridge will be over the eastern Pacific and will bring a northwest flow aloft today. High temperatures will be several degrees cooler than Friday with highs in the 40s and 50s. Winds are expected to be light. Look for a shortwave trough to quickly dive to the south Saturday night into Sunday. This is expected to be a cold system with snow levels at the valley floors for all locations. Snow amounts and areal coverage have both increased. Overnight lows will be in the 20s. On Sunday, the upper wave will be heading south across the eastern Great Basin. Snow amounts will generally be one to three inches in northern Elko county with a trace to about an inch in the area with mountain summits and passes seeing one to two inches. Colder air will infiltrate the region with highs only reaching the 40s in many locations. Winds will be breezy with gusts to about 20 to 25 mph. Look for clearing during the overnight Sunday with northerly flow continuing. Lows will be in the teens for the most part. Monday and Monday night, cold conditions will remain over the area with north to northwest flow. Highs will be in the 30s and 40s with winds light. Overnight lows will be in the teens and 20s. Yet another shortwave will bring snow showers to northern and central Nevada Tuesday and Tuesday night. Current forecast amounts are roughly one to three inches in northern Elko county and about a half inch or so in other locations. Highs will remain in the 40s and 50s. Overnight lows will be in the teens and 20s. Look for upper ridging to build in for the latter portions of the work week with highs in the 40s and 50s and lows in the 20s. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Minor modifications were made to the snow amounts. Forecast remains on track with high confidence of much cooler conditions for the upcoming weekend. High and moderate confidence on the two winter systems coming through this weekend and early next week, respectively. && .AVIATION... VFR conditions are expected at all terminals through this Saturday afternoon. CIGs will increase and lower later today and overnight ahead of an approaching storm system.
