.DISCUSSION...
(This afternoon through next Wednesday)

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Satellite imagery this afternoon is
showing a mass of mid and high level clouds over northern and
central Nevada this afternoon. Winds are generally below 15 mph
this afternoon. Look for quiet conditions during the overnight
period with lows in the 30s.

An upper level trough will appear on the west coast of the United
States on Thursday. Model simulations depict the system remaining
offshore through the day tomorrow. Main impact will be an increase
in wind speeds with patchy blowing dust possible. Winds will be
out of the south and southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.
The visibility reductions to patchy blowing dust will be around
one mile or less in the most dense dust plumes. Light, showery
precipitation is expected to develop but it will be in spots and
accumulations will be on the light side. Highs will be in the
60s. Look for the light showers to spread east and south during
the overnight with lows in the 30s and 40s. Snow levels will be
high at or above 8500 feet. Total precipitation is expected to be
around a trace to around a tenth of an inch.

Friday through the weekend, the upper level system will push to
the south slightly, then take a sharp jig to the northeast and
across portions of central Nevada on Saturday, slowly working its
way through northern Nevada on Sunday. This will bring cooling
into the area each day with on and off showers during the weekend
period. Highs will be in the 50s and 60s on Friday and Saturday,
cooling into the 50s by Sunday. Lows will be in the 20s and 30s.
Winds will be breezy but will not be making it to advisory
criteria.

Activity remains for next Monday through the mid-week portion with
rain and snow showers and cooler temperatures in the 40s and 50s
with lows in the 20s and 30s.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Confidence remains moderate at
best with the incoming storm system due to uncertainty of
precipitation forecasts.

.AVIATION...VFR conditions will persist through the overnight with
light winds. However, an incoming storm system will bring
increasing south to southwest winds late Thursday morning and
afternoon, 10-20G30-35KT. This could cause LCL BLDU across
portions of northern and central Nevada with reductions to VSBY of
1SM or less. However, there is a low likelihood of occurrence to
warrant placement in the TAFs at this time.
