(Today through next Tuesday) Issued at 1258 AM PDT Tue Jun 17 2025 WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: An upper-level area of high pressure will be centered over the Desert Southwest today through Wednesday night. High temperatures throughout Northern and Central Nevada this afternoon will be two to four degrees above normal for this time of year. Maximum temperatures across Northern and Central Nevada Wednesday afternoon will be around ten degrees above normal for this time of year. Near record heat is expected in Ely and Eureka Wednesday afternoon. The current record for maximum temperature measured in Ely on June 18th is 94 degrees, set in 1898. Temperature records at Ely date back to 1893. The current record for maximum temperature measured in Eureka on June 18th is 96 degrees, set in 2015. Temperature record in Eureka date back to 1963. Above normal temperatures continue for Thursday with high temperatures in the upper 80s to mid 90s. Temperatures return to more seasonal levels on Friday as an upper level trough approaches from the Washington coast. Daytime temperatures will be mainly in the 80s and some isolated showers are possible north of I-80 beginning late in the evening. Much cooler on Saturday as a result of that trough, with high temperatures barely reaching 70 across much of the forecast area, although southern White Pine and northeastern Nye counties are still expected to reach the low 90s. Showers clear out by Saturday evening, leaving dry conditions through the end of the forecast period. Current model guidance shows the trough as a slow moving one and it will keep temperatures below normal for several days. Sunday looks to be the coolest day of the forecast, with temperatures across the forecast area in the 60s and low 70s. Monday and Tuesday slowly return to near average temperatures, with highs back in the 70s and low 80s by Tuesday.
