OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
253 AM CDT Sat Sep 5 2026

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Light winds over Lake Michigan will shift east-northeasterly
early this morning as a cold front gradually slides southward.
Areas of fog may form over central and southern Lake Michigan
after the frontal passage, clearing out later this morning.

High pressure around 30.1 inches builds over the Great Lakes from
Ontario through the weekend, bringing modest northeast winds for
central and southern portions of Lake Michigan today. Winds
eventually weaken and become more light and variable for Sunday
and Monday as the high pressure system settles closer to the
region.
