OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
859 AM CDT Thu Aug 28 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

A trough of low pressure and associated cold front are moving
south across the far southern portions of the lake this morning.
Just slight chances for showers and waterspouts are forecast
through the day. Southwest winds will veer due northerly behind
the front. Breezy northerly winds and building waves are expected
across the entire lake through the evening, then will shift to
northeast and subside.

High pressure around 30.2 inches will then prevail over the Great
Lakes for Friday and the Labor Day weekend. This will bring an
extended period of light and variable winds and quiet weather.
