304 FZUS63 KMKX 301354 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 854 AM CDT Sat Aug 30 2025 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... 30.1 inch high pressure will remain in place across Lake Michigan through Monday, with light and variable winds across the lake. South-southwest winds will develop Tuesday afternoon as low pressure of 29.8 inches progresses from Ontario toward Lake Superior. Winds will increase through the overnight hours as low pressure makes its closest approach. A cold front will progress west to east across Lake Michigan Wednesday morning as low pressure progresses toward Quebec, with thunderstorms expected along the front. Expect northwesterly winds behind the front, with gusty conditions developing by the afternoon hours Wednesday. While the current forecast continues to keep gusts just below gale thresholds, upward trends are possible as this portion of the period draws closer. Breezy northwest winds will continue through the day on Thursday behind the departed cold front. Showers will continue after the frontal passage. It remains too early to definitively indicate if gusty thunderstorm winds or waterspouts will be possible in any of this activity, though forecast trends will be closely monitored through the beginning of next week.
