OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
902 AM CDT Wed Aug 19 2026

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

A cold front will shift south of Lake Michigan by early this
afternoon. Behind the front, expect mainly light to modest winds
this afternoon into Thursday, as high pressure around 30.0 inches
tracks through the western Great Lakes region. As the high exits
to the east later Thursday into Thursday night, south to
southwest winds will develop. Gusty southwest winds and
thunderstorm chances return later Friday, as low pressure around
29.8 inches moves across the region and drags a cold front
through. Gusty winds will shift to the west Friday night and
northwest on Saturday behind the front.
