064 FZUS63 KMKX 032051 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 251 PM CST Wed Dec 3 2025 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... A cold front continues to progress across Lake Michigan this afternoon, currently draped across the far southern portions of the open waters. Expect gusty northwest winds behind this front, with a few gusts up to gale force possible tonight in far northern portions of the open waters. These gusts are not expected to be widespread or consistent. Very cold air combined with gusty conditions will result in periods of moderate freezing spray tonight into Thursday morning. Winds shift southwesterly again Thursday as high pressure around 30.4 inches builds over the Ohio Valley. A weak low pressure system around 29.7 inches will move west to east across southern Ontario Thursday night through Friday, increasing southwesterly winds to gales across the northern third of the open waters. Elsewhere, expect gusts around 30 kt. Moderate freezing spray is expected once again during this time frame. A Gale Warning is in effect from Thursday night into Friday morning. A cold front will drape across the open waters Friday into Friday night, bringing lighter westerly winds.
