.SHORT TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT/...
Issued at 343 PM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

BKN low clouds linger over Albany in the far southeastern part of
the forecast area, but otherwise, conditions are mostly sunny this
afternoon. The low clouds continue to clear from north to south in
portions of southern and eastern KY. Temperatures are running in the
upper 60s to lower 70s in most places. Breezy NE winds of 10-20 mph
will continue through sunset.

Cool, dry NE flow will continue through the short term. Strong sfc
high pressure is forecast to slide east across the Great Lakes,
reaching the Northeast US by Thursday night. Temperatures are
forecast to run a bit below normal during this time frame. Lows
tonight will reach the low to mid 40s. Thursday looks sunny, with 10-
15 mph winds from the NE. Afternoon highs will be in the mid/upper
60s in southern IN and north-central KY, and upper 60s to lower 70s
in south-central KY.

Winds look just a bit lighter Thursday night as the pressure
gradient relaxes. With clear skies once again, expect lows Friday
morning in the mid 30s to near 40 in southern IN and north-central
KY. For south-central KY, lows will be in the low/mid 40s. For the
coolest spots, especially sheltered rural valleys in the northern
half of the area, patchy frost will be possible.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 343 PM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

===== Friday and Friday Night =====

Strong sfc high pressure shifts off the Northeast US coast on
Friday. Meanwhile, an occluding area of low pressure drops southeast
over Lake Superior and drags a cold front southeast through the
Midwest. This will allow for the development of SW flow WAA in the
Ohio Valley.

After the chilly start on Friday, temperatures will warm into the
low to mid 70s Friday afternoon, which is near normal for this time
of year. Temperatures will fall back into the 40s early Saturday
morning. We may start to see an increase in cloud cover late Friday
night ahead of boundary approaching from the northwest.

===== This Weekend and Early Next Week =====

The cutoff low stalls over the Great Lakes this weekend, with the
weak cold front washing out over the Ohio Valley. We may see a brief
uptick in cloud cover on Saturday, but dry weather still looks
likely due to a lack of moisture with this system. Highs in the
low/mid 70s look likely over the weekend.

The low to our north eventually merges with a low over the East
Coast early next week before rotating offshore. Mid and upper level
ridging appears likely to build in from the southwest. Mainly dry
and warmer conditions still look likely early next week, though
confidence is lower at this time range. Highs in the mid 70s to near
80 will be possible.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z FRIDAY/...
Issued at 148 PM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

VFR conditions likely. MVFR stratus has pushed south of the TAF
sites, with just lingering FEW-SCT cu this afternoon over the
Bluegrass Region. Breezy NE winds will continue through sunset as
strong sfc high pressure slides east across the Great Lakes.
Occasional gusts of 15+ kts are possible through 22Z. Winds will
diminish slightly overnight, but expect a steady 5-6 kt due to the
pressure gradient in place. NE winds will increase again to 10-12 kt
by late Thu morning.
