.DISCUSSION...Much drier and cooler air will stream in from the
northwest today in the wake of a cold front. Despite the cooler
temperatures, afternoon RH values will plummet into the 15-25
percent range. The very dry airmass combined with breezy NW winds
of 10-20 mph will result in an elevated fire danger this
afternoon. High pressure will build into the region tonight,
allowing winds to diminish quickly after sunset. Monday will be
quite chilly in the morning with lows in the upper 20s and lower
30s. However, it will be another dry day with afternoon RH values
dipping below 25 percent in many areas. Winds will be lighter on
Monday with high pressure overhead. Widespread rain showers and
possible thunderstorms are forecast for Tuesday with a warm front
setting up over the region.
